PR strategies for hotels – A success story, by Magali

What is press relations?

Press relations is a communication technique that aims to create, develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with journalists. That’s right, the word “relations” is key!

Their purpose?

To help companies work effectively with the media, which helps strengthen the company’s reputation and image while creating an authentic and lasting connection with the public. By coordinating the dissemination of relevant and captivating information, PR aims to increase the company’s visibility and credibility with its target audience.

Key steps to successful press relations

  1. Writing and distributing press releases
    • Creating documents informing the media of important announcements, new products, partnerships, events or other relevant news about your clients.
    • Distributing these documents to selected journalists and editors.
  2. Organising exclusive visits or events for journalists
    • Enabling journalists to discover specific products, services or destinations.
    • Coordinating the visit or event and welcoming and entertaining journalists.
  3. Interviews
    • Coordinating interviews between company executives and journalists.
    • Preparing executives to answer potential questions or deliver key messages.
  4. Press trips (of course!)
    • Organising exclusive visits or events for journalists, to help them discover specific products, services or destinations.
    • Coordinating the visit or event and welcoming and entertaining journalists.

Magali, head of the press relations department at Beyond Communications, shares with us the success of PR strategies in the tourism sector.

“Since September 2023, the Press Relations department I manage at Beyond Communications has expanded, with the creation of a new division dedicated to French-speaking markets. This service targets actors of the tourism sector in Mauritius and Africa, who are looking to attract French-speaking clients. We work with a pool of renowned French-speaking journalists from leading French publications to meet their every need.

This adventure began in Zimbabwe, with our very first press trip in November 2023. Five influential journalists from Gala, Marie-France, Le Parisien, Yonder, Figaro Magazine and Terres Australes participated in the trip. It was a resounding success!

What makes these trips particularly exciting is the opportunity to present our clients’ products to various journalists. As PR Specialists, the thrill of travelling and getting to the heart of our client’s business is unparalleled! This hands-on approach allows us to ensure every detail is perfectly presented, creating a captivating story for journalists.

This service is bound to grow considerably, ensuring greater visibility to our clients and strengthening their presence on French-speaking markets. The success of our first press trip underlines the potential and impact of our PR strategies for the tourism sector. We look forward to many more successes, connecting our clients with influential media and enhancing their brand image.”

Bravo and thank you, Magali!

Well-orchestrated PR strategies and our team’s expertise allow us to create captivating stories and forge strong relationships with the media.

We look forward to seeing our French-speaking PR department grow and support even more actors of the tourism sector.
